Morning coffee
20” x 36” Oil on canvas
Morning Coffee is a portrait of my fiancé, with our shared morning coffee. It’s a quiet ritual that anchors our days—no matter how busy life gets or how much our routines shift, we always make time to wake up together.
We pass the same cup of coffee back and forth, work on the daily crossword or NYT game, talk about what’s ahead. It’s simple. A kind of pause before the day really starts.
This painting captures that early moment—the warm glow from the bedside lamp, the hush of a room not yet in motion. The palette is mostly deep blues and bright yellows.
Like much of my work, this piece is about paying attention to small, everyday rituals.
