This painting captures a moment of documentation — my take on the phrase “phone eats first.” As a painter whose main subject is food, my camera often comes out before the meal begins. It felt especially funny to notice the person I was sharing the meal with reaching for their camera at the same time.

Part of my Documentation series, this work reflects on the small, everyday moments of joy, connection, and shared attention.
