study of a biscuit
8” x 8” Oil on canvas
Study of a Biscuit is a small oil painting capturing a biscuit mid-snack—partially eaten, sitting on its wrapper, with crumbs scattered around. The crust is warm orange, painted against cool teals and purples that bring out the texture and contrast of the soft inside and crisp edges.
Like many of my still life studies, this piece isn’t about idealizing food—it’s about noticing it. It’s a quiet record of a moment: not plated or posed, just how it looked while I was eating it. There’s no deeper meaning, really—just a biscuit, halfway gone, painted with care.
It’s part of a larger practice of paying attention to everyday things, especially the ones that usually don’t get documented. I like to think of it as casual observation—life as it’s happening, one bite at a time.
