Still Life #1
8” x 8” Oil on canvas
Still Life 1 captures a small, passing moment from my workspace—a tea mug stacked on books beside me as I worked on another painting. It’s a view that wasn’t meant to be the subject, but became one. The background is loose and abstracted, with familiar circle stamps that echo throughout my other still lifes.
The bright orange underpainting is hardly covered, left mostly intact to preserve the immediacy of the moment. The piece feels unfinished in a way that mirrors the scene itself—mid-process, mid-thought, part of the rhythm of making.
