together or separate
11” x 14” Oil on canvas
Together or Separate grew out of my ongoing fascination with diners as places of everyday connection. The title references that familiar moment when the waiter asks, “together or separate,” a simple question that quietly carries ideas about closeness, independence, and shared experience. I used layered color and loose, expressive brushwork to suggest the hum of conversation and the comfort of being together in a public place. Like many of my recent works, this piece reflects my interest in how food and shared spaces shape community and connection.
