through the window on king street

11” x 14” Oil on canvas

This painting is based on a photograph I took while working as a barista during the start of the COVID pandemic, while also attending a photography class on Zoom. With limited access to equipment, I photographed my surroundings at the coffee shop, often during slow shifts spent staring out the service window at King Street.

Repainting the image in oil became a way of revisiting a moment shaped by stillness, interruption, and overlapping roles of work, school, and observation.

The original is available for sale in my shop!
