Through the Window on King Street
Oil on gallery wrapped canvas
11 × 14 inches
This painting was made from an old reference photo taken while I was working as a barista at the start of the COVID pandemic. Business was painfully slow, and service was limited to an open window — even during snowstorms. I spent most shifts bundled up and freezing, staring out across King Street at the bar across the street, watching people day drink while the coffee shop remained dead.
I passed the time eating scones, drinking unlimited coffee, and watching the hours stretch until my shift was over.
