Inspired by a conversation with a nearby table at a new brunch spot, this painting captures a moment of connection between strangers. We spoke about menu recommendations, housing costs, and the neighborhood — they seemed to know everything about both the restaurant and the area. The food was incredible, and we were served 32 ounces of coffee in a beautiful French press that I chose to paint here. I painted this work in warm greens and cool blues and purples, paying close attention to value and reflections present. I really enjoyed rendering the reflection of the mugs in the silver french press and overall had a joy with this piece.
