untitled (two Girls with corn)

20” x 36” Acrylic on Durlar (part of larger installation)

This painting shows two young girls sharing a piece of corn, captured in a moment of intimacy and joy. Installed on the doors of an anatomy lab, their presence is part of a larger installation titled The Lab, which features life-sized portraits of people from various places, ages, and backgrounds.

Painted on transparent Duralar, the piece plays with presence and absence—some areas fully rendered, others left in negative space—highlighting the fragility and fullness of life. The girls are a close-up of what came before: a celebration of affection, warmth, and humanity in a space defined by stillness and loss.

This work serves as a reminder of life before death, inviting viewers to pause, reflect, and acknowledge the sacrifices of those who have given their bodies to science. It asks us to see people not as specimens, but as they were: joyful, living, deeply human.
