Still Life
9” x 12” Oil on canvas
This Still Life shifts focus from the aftermath of a meal to its origins—fish, packaged and ready to eat. It’s a quieter kind of confrontation, drawing attention to the systems behind our everyday consumption. The fish are rendered with care, but there’s no illusion of abundance or celebration—just the stark presence of something about to be used.
Routine bound up in systems we rarely see. Like much of my work, this painting dwells in the overlooked spaces of daily life, asking us to reflect on what we consume, and what is lost in the process.
