Roe
2025
24” x 30” Acrylic on wood panels
Roe captures a still life in motion—a chaotic, intimate arrangement of half-eaten plates and dirty dishes. Painted with expressive brushstrokes and layered gestures, the work resists the traditional stillness of still life, instead focusing on the during—the act of consuming, sharing, and existing together in a moment.
With its raw surfaces and saturated energy, the piece reflects my interest in domestic ritual as both sustenance and spectacle. Rather than tidying up the aftermath, Roe lingers in it, celebrating the messy pleasure of a meal in progress.
