Live Fish

18” x 24” Oil on canvas

Live Fish is a kind of self-portrait, showing me gazing through the glass of an aquarium as fish swim past. I’ve always loved fish—their movement, colors, and quiet presence—and this painting captures that fascination.

The loose, chaotic brushstrokes blur the boundary between viewer and subject, making the glass almost disappear. It’s a peek into a quiet, everyday moment—part reflection, part observation—offering a glimpse of my daily life and the subtle separations we experience even in ordinary scenes.
